Classless Act Breathes New Life Into Rock

Montreal Rocks was invited to the CHOM studio to check out an intimate performance from L.A. based rock band Classless Act (thanks @Looters @Better Noise Music), and I can’t wait to share my discovery.
After hearing their debut album “Welcome To The Show,” I got that same buzz that I felt when I first heard Greta Van Fleet on the radio. And Led Zeppelin on vinyl when I was a kid. The album sounds fresh yet familiar with a nostalgic yet upcycled sound.

For all the geezers out there who believe that rock music is dead, turn off the oldies station and pay attention. Rock is evolving exactly as it should. Thanks to bands like Classless Act, who are breathing new life into the genre.

Listing their influences as the Beatles, David Bowie, Rush, Queen and Van Halen, they are the perfect blend of all the magical elements that make that fantastical thing called rock. With an abundance of personality, mad musical skills and raw energy, Classless Act is about to take over the airwaves, so sit back and enjoy the show.

Formed in 2019, the band has been working very hard and have every reason to be hopeful. Receiving a lot of praise and attention from some legendary artists, their debut album (released on June 24th) features collaborations from Vince Neil (Motley Crüe) and Justin Hawkins (The Darkness).

On vocals is the high-octane and charismatic Derek Day, who sounds like the love child of Axle Rose and Robert Plant. The grit and sneer in his voice is not something learned or imitated but an inherent part of who he is as an artist which makes him a captivating front man.

He performed a live set without a mic and blew the roof off the Bell Media building.

All the band members are as exciting to watch as they are talented. On guitars are Griffin Tucker and Dane Pieper, on bass, Franco Gravante and on drums, Chuck Mckissok. They are all multi-instrumentalists who have played since they were babies. They love what they do, and it shows.
I hope that they hold on to their playful and passionate spirit because I really want to see what they do next.

They are currently on a massive North American Tour with Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jet, playing arenas and some smaller venues. (A few Canadian dates, but unfortunately, no Montreal shows.) More info at the link below.
